Our new MP, Robert Buckland was elected for the first time in May 2010.
A Welshman living in Wiltshire isn’t be a bad start! He is involved in several projects around the constituency and on major committees in the House of Commons, especially the Justice Select Committee. I am sure he would welcome input from you. You will find plenty of information on his web site at: http://www.robertbuckland.co.uk and you can blog him there.
You can also follow him on Twitter at: http://twitter.com/RobertBuckland and we will expect a favourable mention after his visit to Liddington!
If you have questions that you would like to raise then please let the Chair of the Parish Council, Gordon Wilson, have your input. You can email Gordon on this link. We will put the Robert’s contact links on a permanent page on the web site so you know where to go if you require help.
Our MP, Robert Buckland, visiting the parish on Friday 1 October 2010.
There was a good turnout with some insghtful questions, such as the national and international role of an MP, to his views on euthanasia and on local issues. The chair of the Parish Council, Gordon Wilson, chaired the session and we simply ran out of time. It was very open and enjoyable and Robert created a good deal of enthusiasm. We wish him well in his demanding job.
The Parish Council will endeavour to support the MP by dealing with very local issues (!) and we will continue to engage with the Swindon Borough Councillors on issues that spread futher than the parish. We hope to have him back next year.
