At 19:00 on 10 January 2026 in the Village Inn.
This is a presentation by Maurice Spillane and friends who went to Nepal to get visas for Tibet. The plan was to trek and camp on the Tibet Himalayas and to climb to 5,900m on Everest Camp 1.
Unfortunately the day after they deposited their passport in the Chinese Embassy, a Gen Z Revolution against corruption started in Kathmandu.
Seventy four students were shot dead and six hundred were wounded. Borders and airports were closed as the rioting burnt the Parliament and Palace, police stations and ministers’ houses.
The group broke curfew and got out of Kathmandu. They deviated to the Khumba Trek to Everest Base Camp in Nepal.
This is a fascinating adventure in a dangerous period of revolution.
