Liddington Fête

Liddington Summer Fete – Saturday 15th June 2024 – 1pm – dusk

Liddington village would like to invite you all to the Summer Fete on the playing field and in the church in Liddington on the afternoon of Saturday 15th June.  We have built on the success of last year, and this year’s fete promises to be even better, and have something for everyone, young or old.

The fete opens at 1pm and the BBQ will be serving delicious locally sourced burgers and sausages. Why not enjoy these in the sunshine with a pint of beer from the Bar, and listen to live music played by “The Black Dog Acoustic Duo”?

At 3pm there will be a demonstration of the skills of working Labrador Retrievers, handled by John Read, an enthusiastic trainer and competitor, and Martin Bagg, a Kennel Club B panel judge, and run by Mike Brown, also a Kennel Club B panel judge, followed by a Q&A session. Then at 3.30pm there will be a Dog Show judged by Mike, so bring along all your fabulous dogs and enter! (Sign up from 1.30pm.) Plenty of treats for dogs to win, and the honour of being awarded rosettes!

As well as exciting fairground rides to entertain the family, this year there will be a marquee full of traditional children’s games with favourites like Splat-the-Rat, Hoopla and Hook-a-Duck, as well as less well-known games such as and Flip-a-Frog, the Holey Cheese Game and Pop-a-Prize. Plenty to keep everyone amused!

Once you’ve visited the number of interesting stalls run by local businesses and craftspeople, you might want to relax and enjoy a cream tea and delicious homemade cakes, or maybe an ice cream or two!

You could wander over to the church next to the playing field to see the Art Exhibition and Flower Displays, and maybe explore with a tour of the tower.

The raffle will be drawn at 4pm for some great prizes including a £100 food hamper, a microlight flight, VIP tickets to Swindon Town Club, an elegant Susie Watson Designs cushion and other exciting prizes.

After 5pm, there will be additional food and drink available and more live music. So do come and join us all for the evening as well and meet up with friends old and new.

Limited parking is available on the playing field (up Church Road) with further parking available in the Village Inn car park. The entrance fee is £3 per adult with free entrance for under 16s. This is a fundraising event to contribute towards much needed repairs in Liddington’s beautiful 13th Century All Saints Church. For any enquiries, please contact John or Mandy on Liddington.fete@btinternet.com or phone them on 01793 791396.

Come along and have a great afternoon at the Liddington Summer Fete!
