Superfast Swindon is planning to bring superfast broadband, of at least 24Mbps download speed, to over 19,500 Swindon homes and businesses, with rollout commencing in June 2016. The project is based on the Government’s pledge to deliver high speed broadband widely across the UK, particularly in rural areas.
The programme is managed by Broadband Delivery UK (BDUK).
Progress has now been made on establishing the mast site and we hopefully expect the service to be delivered without further delay. Commencement of the service in Wanborough and Liddington had been delayed due to problems with planning application for the mast. UK Broadband attended Liddington’s last parish council meeting to update us on progress – they have now reached agreement with Thames Water on a lease for the mast site and the planning application should now go ahead. See the Superfast Swindon website for latest news.
